Can you afford to risk the impact of not using our proven products for prevention?

3M™ Cavilon™ Durable Barrier Cream

No String Barrier Film

3M™ Cavilon™ Durable Barrier Cream

Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is a unique moisturising barrier cream that provides durable, long-lasting production from bodily fluids while moisturising the skin. The unique, polymer based formula provides a breathable barrier1 to promote skin health in patients at risk for skin damage from incontinence. The cream vanishes into the skin1, is fragrance free, does not clog briefs and absorbent products1, allows for easy visualisation of the skin and resists wash-off.

Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream contains a unique blend of 3M polyers and dimethicone for skin protection as well as conditioning ingredients for moisturisation. Unlike typical barrier products, Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is both durable and concentrated. This means it last longer and you use less per application then typical creams and ointments.

3M™ Cavilon™ No Sting Barrier Film

Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is an alcohol-free moisture barrier film. It contains unique ingredients called polymers that form a waterproof, protective coating on the skin. It is breathable and transparent allowing for continuous visualisation and monitoring of skin. It is flexible and conforms to the skin during movement or position changes.

The products' unique 3M formulation contains a blend of not one but two polymers, including a Terpolymer and a Homopolymer (plasticiser). The Terpolymer is derived from three distinct monomers, that provides a protective coating on the skin, creating a highly effective barrier. The Homopolymer enhances the films ability to flex with the skin and helps to maintain a continuous, protective coating. Other barrier films contain only one polymer and some utilise alcohol as a solvent.

Protects damaged or intact skin from:

  • body fluids
  • friction
  • adhesive trauma
  • incontinence

Skin functions as a barrier against infection, environmental damage, and physical injury.
When skin integrity is compromised by damage or disease, skin becomes less able to protect against further injury or infection (Maene 2013).
Many clinicians view such skin damage, and the accompanying costs of treatment as the inevitable side effect of using medical adhesives and of incontinence. Maene (2013) describes the ongoing struggle that healthcare providers face to balance the quality of patient care with the need to control costs. However, these injuries and their financial impact are largely avoidable and prevention is key.

Introducing 3M’s RISE Program.

The RISE (Reducing the Incidence of Skin Breakdown through Education) Program is an educational program which 3M can offer to clinicians to help to reduce the incidence of and the cost associated with skin breakdown.
The RISE program offers a range of tools and support:
